Volunteer: Web Development

Description: The volunteer will work with a team of other web development volunteers to provide web strategies and take on the development of the strategies based on the accessed needs of TECH CORPS. The volunteer will also work with other volunteer teams that are working on the communications strategies. On the development front, the volunteer will work on open source CMS platforms, possibly developing plug-ins, components, modules, facebook apps along with other possible needs that the teams decide to implement.

Objectives: Develop/improve the TECH CORPS website to facilitate students, volunteers and other stakeholders. Develop web tools/direct the communication teams on how to achieve their needs.

Commitment: Minimum 2 hours/week for 1 year

Requirements:

·         Familiar with Open Source CMS (Joomla, Wordpress, Moodle, phpBB)

·         Knowledge in CSS, PHP, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, Python, MySQL, Flash, SSH, Unix

·         Good with SEO and other web visibility techniques

 

Volunteer: Online Communications Strategy

Description: The volunteer will work with a team of other online communications strategists to develop and help implement the online communications strategy for TECH CORPS. The volunteer will also work with other communication teams to make sure the message is in sync. The volunteer will also work with the web development team to achieve the objectives. In the constant state of change, the volunteer must understand the latest tools and outlets that could be utilized to get results.

Objectives: Develop online communication strategy and tactical plans and implementation of some.

Commitment: Minimum 2 hours/week for 1 year

Requirements:

·         Good understanding of Social Networking

·         Understanding how viral apps and emails work

·         Understanding website/audience relationships and profiles

 

Volunteer: Traditional Communications Strategy

Description: The volunteer will work with a team of other traditional communication strategists to develop and help implement the traditional communications strategy for TECH CORPS. The volunteer will also work with other communication teams to make sure the message is in sync. The volunteers will come up with creative and economic means to maximize impact, including identifying partners.

Objectives: Identify potential campaigns that TECH CORPS can piggy back on. Design and develop of prints, video and other promotional materials.

Commitment: Minimum 2 hours/week for 1 year

Requirements:

·         Good connections with media and FMCG/Telecomm companies

·         Creative design and message creation

·         Familiar with ins and outs of material production and cost

 

Volunteer: Viral Communication Strategy

Description: The volunteer will work with a team of other viral communication strategists to develop and implement a viral communication campaign. The volunteer will also work with other communication teams to make sure the message is in sync. The volunteer will use different viral means to get exposure for TECH CORPS.

Objectives: Develop and implement viral communication strategy and campaign.

Commitment: Minimum 2 hours/week for 1 year

Requirements:

·         Understand the ethics and boundaries of viral communications

·         Understand the psyche of target audiences

·         Development of creative delivery mechanism at minimum cost
